Simple but delicious recipe for homemade biscuits.
Ingredients
2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
⅓ cup lard or Crisco
¾ cup buttermilk
Instructions
Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt into large mixing bowl. Cut in lard or Crisco. Add buttermilk all at once. Stir with fork only until dough follows fork. Knead dough very gently only until you can pick it up with your hands. Pick it up and lay on floured surface.
Press dough out with hands to about ½ inch thickness. Cut with a biscuit cutter and lay it on a buttered cookie sheet (melt butter). Turn each biscuit over to coat with the melted butter. Bake at 425 for 12 to 15 minutes.
